What is a renewable microgrid

A renewable microgrid is a one or more type of renewable onsite generation.  This can be either on-grid or off-grid.  This can also be known as distributed renewable generation.

The types of distributed renewable generation include some of the following:

  • Solar - rooftop, carport / canopy solar, field scale solar
  • Wind
  • Generator using renewable waste bioliquid such as used cooking oil

The EMS (Energy Management System) will provide historic data and forecasts as to the generation, loads, and a management tool with which to manage the microgrid.

The larger the microgrid with multiple source of generation, the greater the potential stability and decrease in the reliance on the grid.
